What is Talent Foundry?

Are you ready to transform from CLASSROOM TO CAREER?

Launched in 2025, Talent Foundry is a career-readiness talent programme intended for current students studying in Hong Kong with academic backgrounds in computer science, engineering, and other majors related to innovation and technology (I&T). We are directly collaborating with local university faculties and industry partners to enhance student employability in the I&T field.

Student Eligibility (at the time of application)

  • Current student at a university in Hong Kong, and
  • Currently in penultimate year or final year, and
  • Pursuing an undergraduate and/or postgraduate degree(s) in Engineering, Computer Science, or related majors to innovation and technology.

    Talent Foundry Starters who complete the actions in this table will become Talent Foundry Achievers. In recognition of their contributions to Hong Kong's I&T landscape, financial support may be awarded and subject to availability.

  • Notes: Bootcamp and financial assistance are subject to availability. Any changes to the programme are at HKSTP’s discretion.

    Bootcamp Hours

    As a current Talent Foundry Starter, you can earn bootcamp hours within the programme period (1-Oct-2025 to 31-Aug-2026) through the following:

    •    Monthly Talent Foundry activities from one of the following Bootcamp Components (ranged 2 – 9 hours per activity)
    •    Spontaneous invitations to I&T related events by Talent Foundry (ranged 2 – 8 hours per activity)
    •    Completion of 100 paid or unpaid work hours within HKSTP’s I&T ecosystem (30 hours)

     

    Bootcamp Components

    Bootcamp activities are powered by tech giants & industry experts in HKSTP’s I&T ecosystem. All are held in face-to-face mode until 31st August 2026. We provide comprehensive talent development through six structured engagement activity components. Each component has specific learning objectives to maximise student exposure and readiness for the I&T workforce.

    Entrepreneurship Exposure

    Entrepreneurship Exposure is designed to develop an entrepreneurial mindset and a foundational understanding of startup dynamics through insightful sharing sessions and talks.

    • Key Characteristics: exploratory, mindset-focused 
    • Output: develop entrepreneurial thinking
    • Format: sharing session or talk
    Soft Skills Development

    Soft Skills Development features interactive workshops to cultivate important workplace skills such as communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills sought by recruiters and employers.

    • Key Characteristics: interactive, reflective, scenario-based
    • Output: build professional competencies
    • Format: interactive workshop
    Technical Insights

    Technical Insights aims at deepening students’ understanding of I&T sector’s landscape, culture, and future direction.

    • Key Characteristics: awareness-building, inspirational
    • Output: provide context and market understanding
    • Format: sharing session or talk
    Hard Skills Upgrade

    Hard Skills Upgrade offers half-day or full-day workshop to help students gain practical and applicable experience with industry-standard platforms and tools.

    • Key Characteristics: hands-on, tool-specific
    • Output: lead to a tangible output (e.g., a built prototype, a deployed model)
    • Format: workshop or lab
    Career Hack & Match

    Career Hack & Match (previously known as Challenge Lab) provides a direct-engagement platform featuring small-group and face-to-face interactions with founders or key company representatives. Designed to bridge the gap between theory and practice, it creates a more relaxed environment rather than a formal interview for students to apply their academic knowledge and technical skills to potentially solve real business/technical challenges.

    • Key Characteristics: immersive, collaborative
    • Output: propose potential solutions to a real business challenge
    • Format: showcase day
    Mentorship

    Mentorship helps Talent Foundry Starters’ map out their career paths and aligns their career roadmap with the industry reality.

    • Key Characteristics: personalised and relationship-based
    • Output: focus on individual growth and pathfinding
    • Format: structured 1-on-1 sessions or group sessions
    Networking Opportunities

    Networking Opportunities empowers students to build connections with industry professionals and like-minded peers through a diverse array of events.

    • Key Characteristics: social, conversational, meeting new people
    • Output: build a personal and professional network within the I&T ecosystem
    • Format: stand-alone or integrated sessions
