Medical Technologist
Job Responsibilities
- Assist in monitoring daily laboratory operations
- Arrange and monitor equipment maintenance and calibration
- Assist in developing next / third generation sequencing technology
- Assist in monitoring laboratory workload, quality and quantity performed for HKGP
- Participate in preparation of standard operating procedures (SOP) and evaluation of methods and instruments
- Evaluate and develop methodology on cell culture, conventional and molecular cytogenetics, and molecular genetic tests
- Supervise the associate medical technologists in the laboratory unit
- Train laboratory staff and participate in research and development
- Liaise with service providers
- Assist in implementation of quality control, documentation, internal audit and external quality assurance programmes to meet the accreditation standard
- Perform any other duties assigned by senior officers
Job Requirements
- A Master’s degree in Biological Science, Laboratory Science, or related disciplines
- A Certificate of Registration (MLT Part I) and a valid Practising Certificate issued by the Medical Laboratory Technologists Board, Hong Kong
- At least 3 years of relevant experience working in an accredited medical laboratory, preferably with provision of conventional cytogenetics and molecular genetic testing.
- Preferably with 2-3 years of working experience in short and / or long-read sequencing technology, including quality control and data analysis
- Experience in quality management system, such as quality assurance, development of SOP and operation manual
