Company Introduction

At Food With Benefits Limited, a FoodTech startup from HKUST, we are committed to reducing food waste by transforming surplus produce, as well as food manufacturing byproducts, into high-value, functional food products with sensible health benefits. Our flagship product is the shake-and-go smoothies, which deliver 2-3 servings of fruits and vegetables per sachet, providing consumers with a substantial daily intake of essential vitamins and minerals. Made with optimised freeze-drying technology, the smoothies effectively reduce food waste in the supply chain with a substantially extended shelf life.

Our efforts are recognised by different organisations, such as HKUST, Hong Kong Science Park, Hong Kong Food Council and Housing Authority, Macau Industrial Catering Associations, among others. Till date through the sales of our products we have contributed towards preventing over 3,000kg of food produce, translating to a net savings of more than 16,500kg of CO2e.

Job Description

At your position as FoodTech R&D Intern you will have the opportunity to take part in both developmental process of new products, up-scaling the manufacturing process and commercialisation.

Your key responsibilities will encompass the following:

• Performing literature reviews and market analyses to support ongoing projects and identify emerging trends in food technology.
• Assisting in the formulation and testing of food products, with an emphasis on optimizing ingredients, taste, texture, and nutritional value.
• Investigating potential manufacturing facilities, conducting detailed analyses of production costs and economic feasibility at scale, and liaising with businesses to coordinate and negotiate trial batch manufacturing.
• Researching and analyzing regulatory requirements applicable to the development of specific products.
• Coordinating the shipment and receipt of product samples.
• Others, as deemed neccessary.
