Job Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive ecosystem development strategy for the life science cluster, aligned with the HSITP's vision and goals; Identify key focus areas, target industries, and opportunities for growth
- Lead efforts to attract and nurture life science startups, researchers, and industry players to join the HSITP's life science ecosystem; Foster collaboration and synergies among cluster members through tailored programs and initiatives
- Establish strategic partnerships with life science companies, research institutions, government agencies, and industry associations to leverage resources, expertise, and funding opportunities; Identify and secure funding sources to support ecosystem development initiatives
- Organize and facilitate events, workshops, and networking activities to foster collaboration, knowledge sharing, and innovation among life science stakeholders; Develop a strong sense of community within the life science ecosystem
- Oversee the design and implementation of a specialized incubation program for life science startups, providing mentorship, resources, and business support to accelerate their growth and commercialization efforts
- Collaborate with academic institutions and training providers to develop talent pipelines in the life sciences; Support initiatives such as internships, co-op programs, and training opportunities to enhance the skills and capabilities of professionals within the HSITP
- Identify and facilitate access to funding opportunities, grants, and investment sources specifically tailored for life science startups; Provide guidance and support to startups in securing funding and developing investment strategies
- Position HSITP as a thought leader in the life sciences by organizing conferences, symposiums, and thought leadership events; Represent HSITP in relevant conferences and industry forums
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in life sciences, biotechnology, bioengineering, business administration, or a related field; A master's degree or higher in a relevant discipline is preferred
- At least 8 years of post-qualification experience in ecosystem development, technology innovation, life science startups, or related fields; Prior experience in a senior leadership role or managing programs in the life sciences is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of life science technologies, trends, and applications. In-depth knowledge of areas such as biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, genomics, or bioinformatics
- Strong business and commercial understanding to identify market opportunities, develop business models, and support startups in their commercialization efforts.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders
- Proven ability to lead and inspire a team, as well as collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- Strong research and analytical skills
- Flexible and adaptable to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
- Excellent command of verbal & written English and Chinese (both Cantonese & Mandarin)
