Research Officer (Laboratory Sciences)

Job Responsibilities

  • Participate in long-read and short-read Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS), from sample processing, library preparation, quality assurance, to sequencing
  • Participate in the single-cell sequencing project, primarily in conducting experiments
  • Conduct research and development for the above related procedures
  • Assist senior officers in routine laboratory management
  • Assist in quality control, documentation, internal audits, and external quality assurance programmes aimed at meeting accreditation standards
  • Contribute to the development and evaluation of new methodologies and instruments
  • Participate in the development and improvement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
  • Perform any other duties assigned by senior officers

Job Requirements

  • A Master’s degree or above in Biological Science, Laboratory Science, or related disciplines
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in next generation sequencing, including exome sequencing, genome sequencing, and other omics
  • Preferably with experience in genome research resulting in publications in international peer-review journals
  • Preferably with experience in quality management system, such as quality assurance, development of SOP and manuals
  • Preferably with working experience in multi-disciplinary team consisting of clinicians, bioinformaticians and laboratory scientists
  • Good written Chinese and English and fluency in spoken Cantonese; strong written English is an advantage
  • Good communication skills and great team mindset
