HKSTP and FHKI Jointly Nuture Young Talents Beyond Hong Kong to experience Vietnam I&T ecosystem
“Innopreneur Experience Journey Cohort 3” was completed successfully

(Hong Kong, 22 August 2024) – Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (“HKSTP”) and Federation of Hong Kong Industries (“FHKI”) jointly held “Innopreneur Experience Journey Cohort 3”, which concluded today with a closing ceremony at Tseung Kwan O InnoPark.
This experience journey was sponsored by SINO Group and the Hong Kong Innovation Fund (HKIF), and partnered with Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong Tsuen Wan Centre and the Po Leung Kuk Life Planning and Financial Education Centre. HKSTP and FHKI continue to work together to organise various activities and programmes aimed at inspiring youngsters’ interest in I&T while broadening their horizons, fostering talents from diverse backgrounds and experiences to join the industry.
Over 80 local secondary students passionate about I&T, from 10 schools were arranged to enjoy work experience for two days at 32 corporate mentors of FHKI and HKSTP, acting as "executive shadowing" of administrative executives. They also visited HKTVmall and HKRITA Open Lab in Tseung Kwan O InnoPark today, preparing for future education and career planning.
Fanny Wong, Head of Talents and Human Resources, HKSTP, hopes more young people will engage in the I&T sector. “HKSTP strongly encourage everyone to learn STEM subjects, as in the future world, I&T sector will become increasingly important and will continue to change the world. The entire technology industry needs various positions to operate and requires a large number of talents proficient in different fields to launch technological products into the international market. HKSTP welcomes all talents including non-STEM students to enter I&T ecosystem, and we will continue to promote the I&T development by joining hands with the government, industry, academia, and research institutions, aiming to develop Hong Kong into an International Innovation and Technology Centre.”, she stated.
This year's event has introduced the 'Star Student Award' as highlight. After an initial evaluation, 4 selected students from the top 10 gave presentations during the closing ceremony. Each had 3 minutes to share details of their two-day work experience and personal insights, while representatives from FHKI, HKSTP and SINO Group acted as judges. At last, gold prize, silver prize and other two students won a "5-day, 4-night trip to Vietnam" to gain work experience at local enterprises and understand the integration of technology and industry while broadening their international perspective.
FHKI Executive Deputy Chairman Anthony Lam stated that as Hong Kong's economy progresses towards diversification, he encourages students to embrace new opportunities, "I hope our students will keep an open mind and capitalise on the new opportunities presented by Hong Kong's golden age of innovation, excelling across diverse fields. Furthermore, I hope the four recipients of the 'Star Student Award' will value the precious opportunity to visit and work in enterprises in Vietnam, expand their horizons, and immerse themselves in the economic dynamism and unique culture of Vietnam, thereby equipping themselves for future endeavours."
