HKSTP Signs MoU with World-leading Cybersecurity Enterprise Qi An Xin Group to Establish an International R&D Centre in Hong Kong
(Hong Kong, 15 December 2023) - Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) and world-leading cybersecurity service provider, Qi An Xin Technology Group Co., Ltd (QAX Group) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today to set up the QAX Group international R&D centre at Hong Kong Science Park. QAX Group will become the largest cybersecurity company within HKSTP’s ecosystem. The partnership aims to deliver groundbreaking cybersecurity technologies and collectively promote Hong Kong’s status as an international I&T hub.
Witnessed by Professor Sun Dong, Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry; Dr Hao Yinxing, Director-General of the Information Centre of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR; Philip Yung, Director-General of OASES; Lillian Cheong, Under Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry; Albert Wong, CEO of HKSTP; and Yang Hongpeng, Vice President of QAX Group, Ir Dr HL Yiu, Chief Corporate Development Officer of HKSTP and Zhang Fan, Vice President of QAX Group signed the MoU.
The QAX Group International R&D Centre will focus on areas such as terminal security, digital forensics and managed security service operating platforms. The Centre will also launch initiatives including network security technical research, network security testing and laboratory set-up, nurturing cybersecurity talent and organising cybersecurity competitions, with an aim of providing high-grade cybersecurity services for the government, public institutions, as well as the financial services, education, medical and transportation sectors.
Professor Sun Dong, Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, said, "With the increasing application of innovative technologies in areas such as digitalised government services, smart city and the 'Digital Bay Area', the HKSAR Government and Hong Kong businesses have rising concerns about cybersecurity. The establishment of the QAX Group in Hong Kong will positively impact and bring critical mass to the local cybersecurity market. It will also strengthen the industry with its sector knowledge, capability, infrastructure and supporting solutions. We aim to welcome more cybersecurity companies from the Mainland and overseas wishing to set up offices in Hong Kong to enhance the construction of Hong Kong's cybersecurity system."
Albert Wong, CEO of HKSTP, said, “There are over 1,500 companies in HKSTP’s I&T ecosystem. Equipped with high-intensity data infrastructure, our Tseung Kwan O InnoPark is home to the DT Hub and 12 data centres operated by local and multinational corporations to support growing demands for cloud computing, e-commerce and Internet of Things. Tseung Kwan O InnoPark also houses most of the top data centre providers in Hong Kong. We will connect partner companies with QAX Group to conduct network security simulation tests and protection, contributing to a win-win situation which provides a testing platform for QAX Group and helps Park companies to strengthen their network security at the same time.”

QAX Group is honoured to be one of the first batch of strategic enterprises joining Science Park, starting a new chapter to help promote the digitalisation and I&T development in Hong Kong. QAX Group will help establish three centres including an international business centre, a security operation centre and an international R&D and talent training centre, dedicating to Hong Kong’s development into an international I&T hub in the future.”

The Group designed a cybersecurity framework and system catering for the specific cybersecurity needs of the Beijing Winter Olympic Games to provide effective protection for data assets.
