HKSTP’s First GBA Innovation Solution Day Connects Property Developers with Tech Ventures from the Greater Bay Area to Drive Collaboration and Industry Transformation
(Hong Kong, 6 October 2020) – Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) hosted its first Greater Bay Area (GBA) Innovation Solution Day to connect Hong Kong real estate developers with tech ventures and talent from the Greater Bay Area, driving innovation and transformation in the property industry.
Launched by HKSTP’s Global Acceleration Academy (GAA), the GBA Innovation Solution Day creates a viable platform for property developers and tech ventures to jointly explore innovation possibilities with smart property management, smart building, smart exhibition and green technology. The Solution Day marks the beginning of innovation engagements between the parties where proof of concepts and/or investments may result, furthering innovation adoptions.
Albert Wong, CEO, HKSTP said, “Technologies like artificial intelligence and robotics have been widely adopted by the property industry during the pandemic and will enable new growth opportunities as we enter the new normal.”
“HKSTP is leading innovation and technology development in Hong Kong, the Greater Bay Area, and across Asia, by connecting key stakeholders to build an ecosystem to drive I&T development and economic recovery. The GBA Innovation Solution Day is focused on empowering local property businesses to realise their full potential by leveraging technology to accelerate business growth and to modernise the industry sector as a whole.”
The success of the GBA Innovation Solution Day is founded on the extensive network of GAA as a direct innovation commercialisation platform for corporations. In this case, it successfully provided property businesses with exclusive access to the most relevant innovations from the expansive GBA region. This included a number of solutions from Shenzhen, Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, and Guangzhou. Tech ventures from across the GBA were able to pitch their solutions to the most prominent property businesses in Hong Kong, where world-class commercial and residential properties serve as a living lab for property technology solutions. Hong Kong is also a launchpad for tech ventures to further pursue overseas opportunities.
Organised in partnership with InvestHK and leading regional incubator and accelerator TusPark HK and Run Accelerator, the GBA Innovation Solution Day gathered several well-known enterprises and organisations in the industry, which included Hong Kong Housing Society, Sino Group, and Certis Hong Kong and Macau, along with 35 tech ventures. The tech ventures were given the opportunity to present their solutions to their resident innovation experts, thereby capturing direct insights and priorities for commercialisation and adoption possibilities.
The event marks a successful new chapter in cross-broader collaboration between business and innovation leaders in this region, paving the way for further GBA growth opportunities.
