(Hong Kong, 7 September 2023) – Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (“HKSTP”) celebrated the opening of Hong Kong Science Park Shenzhen Branch (“Shenzhen Branch”) at Futian. The Shenzhen Branch will house around 150 enterprises and connect the innovation ecosystems of Hong Kong and Shenzhen, paving the way for tech ventures to enter the Mainland market as well as going global.
Last month, the Central Government launched the "Development Plan for Shenzhen Park of Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Co-operation Zone" to promote high-quality development in the Greater Bay Area (GBA). With strong support from the Central and HKSAR Governments, HKSTP will continue to play an active role in helping local and global enterprises to “attract in and expand out”, achieving the mission of developing the GBA into an international innovation and technology (I&T) centre.
The newly opened Shenzhen Branch provides tech ventures with a two-way gateway to the thriving innovation ecosystems of HKSTP and Shenzhen. Participating enterprises can leverage the collaboration between corporations and startups, access to worldwide talents, reach new markets and connect with investors.
With a gross floor area of 31,000 square metres, the Shenzhen Branch offers co-working spaces, wet/dry laboratories, independent offices and MICE venues. Currently a total of 16 I&T companies have already moved in to support their global and regional expansion plans. Dr Sunny Chai, Chairman of the HKSTP said, “The opening of the Hong Kong Science Park Shenzhen Branch is a key milestone in HKSTP’s journey to actualise the full innovation potential of the GBA by integrating with Shenzhen, fulfilling the national mandate of establishing Hong Kong as an international I&T hub. The Shenzhen Branch will create a bridge between the two cities to unlock cross-border talents, knowledge, collaboration, incubation and market opportunities for local and global corporations and tech ventures.”
Located at 32 Shihua Road, Futian District, the Shenzhen Branch comprises of two six-storey buildings. Block A has a gross floor area of 21,000 square metres which specifically supports innovative enterprises to expand into the Mainland and international markets. The 10,000 square metres Block B is dedicated to incubation purposes to nurture talents and startups. The branch will serve as a platform to foster exchange and collaboration across government, industry, academia and research sectors, strengthening the innovation ecosystems of the two cities.
The Shenzhen Branch will provide all-round services for I&T talents and enterprises including:
