Application Engineer

Job Responsibilities

  • This position is to drive the application aspect of the IC including spec definition, silicon performance characterization, printed circuit board design for silicon evaluation, etc. The Application Engineer will be the primary interface to R&D, quality, and reliability standards for the final silicon IC.
  • Analyze customer requirements and propose technical solutions, and understand the market expectation of the application of the product.
  • Provide input and review of IC product documentation such as datasheets and application notes - Collect data, analyse and report results - Setup and maintain laboratory equipment and bench testing
  • Support IC Design and Test Engineering teams.
  • Work with the team to define Design Objective Specification from the application side of the project.
  • Analyze customer requirements and understand the market expectation of the application of the product.
  • Communicate with the team to decide on top-level architecture to get the best performance based on market expectation.
  • Design and complete PCB board for mounting the silicon and send the design to PCB house to build it.
  • Design and complete HTOL boards for HTOL.
  • Work with Director of Research and Innovation to measure and debug the silicon on the bench.
  • Work with Test Engineer to implement a test program for testing the chip at ATE.
  • Continue to work with the team to measure and debugging the silicon on the bench.
  • Complete and analyze ESD test of the silicon. (5% of the time) Complete and analyse the reliability tests HTOL and MSL
  • Work with Test Engineer to finish the ATE test program and compile mass production data.
  • Documentation to report issues and debug progress, and the final specification of the project.

Job Requirements

  • Preferred Bachelor of Science with 5 years of experience or Master of Science with 1 year of experience in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related fields
  • Strong understanding of electronic engineering principles in areas including analog and digital circuits, power devices, and high-speed signal integrity.
  • Hands-on experience with lab equipment including digital multi meter, oscilloscope, power supply, logic analyzer, etc. - Background in Signal Integrity/Power Integrity (SI/PI) and timing measurements.
  • Expertise in lab setup and maintenance, as well as precision PCB/component rework preferred.
