Operations Director, Manufacturing

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee manufacturing operations including Production, inventory control (material and production), Production Engineering and equipment maintenance.
  • Develop manufacturing plans and establish procedures for maintaining high standards of manufacturing operations to ensure that products conform to established customer and company quality standards.
  • Optimize utilization of manpower, machinery, materials, and other resources to deliver operation excellence and to meet with annual budgetary plan.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement changes to improve productivity, overall equipment efficiency and reduce production overhead and scrap, monitor scrap and rework data. Direct the establishment, implementation and maintenance of production standards.
  • Direct and monitor department managers to accomplish goals of the manufacturing plan, consistent with established manufacturing and safety procedures. Act as liaison between department management/subordinate levels, as well as executive/department manager levels to inform personnel of communications, decisions, policies and all matters that affect their performance, attitudes and results.
  • Hire, train, develop and evaluate staff. Take corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy. Ensure compliance with local regulations and company’s SOP and Code of Conduct policy.
  • Direct and coordinate various programs essential to manufacturing procedures (e.g., Safety, plant layout changes, installation of capital equipment, maintenance, EHS & 6S, cost reduction, training, security, etc.)
  • Drive and manage the continuous improvement programs in cycle time reduction, indirect material utilization and product quality yield.

Job Requirements

  • Degree holder in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  • 10+ years’ experience in manufacturing operations, preferably in a process-oriented operations with over 5 years’ experience in managing an entire high volume manufacturing operation. Ideally, the candidate has been working in China before.
  • Solid experience with technical automation leadership and people management experience
  • Deep knowledge and experience on automation engineering and robotic process automation. And strong experience in researching the latest automation trends
  • Hands-on experience in manufacturing-base technology, lean manufacturing, Gemba Kaizen, international quality systems, and driving productivity and quality improvement programs.
  • An excellent communicator and confident decision maker with strong business acumen
  • Strong leadership skill and able to coach people
  • Proficient in both English and Chinese
  • Candidate with less experience will be considered as Senior Manufacturing Manager
  • Working location: Jiangmen, Guangdong, China (we may consider offering Hong Kong employment but 5 days station in Jiangmen)
