Principal Engineer / Senior Engineer - Sustainable Composite Materials

Job Responsibilities

  • Design and fabrication of formulation and integration to suitable product forms, with applications including but not limited to those related to textile and garment industries;
  • Fabrication of sustainable materials, such as cellulosic, and optionally with the use of bacteria;
  • Characterization and testing of the performance of the material that is tailored-made to the requirements of industrial partners;
  • Support scale up and commercialization of all R&D results for industrial partners, especially to those related to textile and garment industries;;
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations in timely manner;
  • Project management of the team’s on-going R&D projects;
  • Incubation of ideas to support core technologies development of the team; and
  • Perform other duties assigned by supervisor

Job Requirements

  • Doctorate with specialization in Textile Chemistry / Chemistry, Material Science, Polymer Science / Engineering, Biochemistry or related disciplines;
  • Minimum 2 years' industrial experience in developing functional/sustainable fibers or fabrics, or related sustainable materials development;
  • Hands-on experience in scale up and commercialization of R&D results;
  • Proven track record in project management;
  • Competent in technical writing and reporting;
  • Ability to initiate and work independently;
  • A good team player with strong problem-solving and communications skills; creative in generating/incubating new ideas;
  • Competent in spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese); ability to speak Mandarin is an advantage; and
  • Candidates with less experience will be considered as Senior Engineer.
