HKSTP Boosts Net-Zero by Bridging the Building and I&T Communities with Business Opportunities Brewed at “Green in Prop+Con – Matching Day”
(Hong Kong, 27 May 2024) – Hong Kong Science and Technology Park Corporation (“HKSTP”) successfully held the “Green in Prop+Con – Matching Day” to compliment a key milestone of the “Green in Prop+Con” initiative, and explore further on the commercialisation of the latest green technology, demonstrated by 30 tech venture showcase and sharing sessions backed by 60 corporate partners and supporting organisations.
The Matching Day saw a series of innovative solutions on stage with the inspiration of 5 tech ventures Aura Labs, Carnot Innovations, Mioying, Wo Lee Green Solutions and Meat The Next highlighted; and off stage with 25 tech companies had their innovations exhibiting endless possibilities, providing from ESG data management and green material, to tenant engagement and safety and wellness, or even energy, water and other nature-based solutions.
Close to 200 counts of business matching were conducted on the spot, putting a positive note to the adoption of Green Tech within the entire building lifecycle; where a panel discussion on green finance was joined by representatives from Bank of China (Hong Kong) and Hang Seng Bank, offering industry insight and fuelling innovation and application of Green Tech at all stages in Hong Kong from a market perspective.
Tony Ho, Chief Project Development Officer, HKSTP, remarked: “We’re on a journey that reaches a critical point towards a sustainable future, in which HKSTP has its own Net-Zero 2045 vision to promote and accelerate for the Hong Kong Climate Action Plan 2050. Much like buildings, we wanted the foundation to be secured, and our “Green in Prop+Con” initiative is here to provide a platform that makes an impact, embracing Green Tech solutions “from” and “for” in a universal sense, and encouraging a collective effort to rinse and repeat the inevitable trial-and-adoption process, and to all pitch in for the development of the Green Tech ecosystem in the city.”
The “Green Prop+Con” initiative was set to bring together the construction and real estate communities across the spectrum and bridging with the fields of innovation and technology. Highly intrigued since the inception last November, 93 tech ventures from 13 countries and regions submitted 119 proposals of Green Tech solutions addressing ESG challenges in areas that concern beyond the industries, achieving emerging sustainability targets, and advancing efforts to place Hong Kong at a pinnacle for Green Tech and green finance development.
