(Hong Kong, 26 October 2023) – Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) reaffirmed its commitment to developing sustainable climate solutions for Hong Kong and beyond by participating at InnoCarnival 2023 and Eco Expo Asia 2023.
To help Hong Kong reach its net-zero carbon goals, the Innovation and Technology Commission (ITC) is hosting InnoCarnival 2023 themed “Go Smart! Go Tech! Go Green!” at Hong Kong Science Park from 28 October to 5 November. The HKSTP Pavilion will house 15 Park companies specialising in green innovation and feature their latest products. 30+ workshops and sharing sessions about incorporating green tech and a green mindset into daily life will also be held, giving the public first-hand information to act green.
This participation in the InnoCarnival 2023 is one of many HKSTP efforts in driving its own commitment to achieve the Net-Zero Standard through the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) by 2045, five years ahead of Hong Kong’s Climate Action Plan 2050 Carbon Neutrality target. Themed as “Green is Action”, the HKSTP Pavilion brings together leading tech ventures from four categories that are shaping a greener future for the city, including Big Data & Data Analytics for Sustainability, Green & Smart-City/ Mobility Solutions and Services, Green & Sustainability Buildings, New Energy and Energy Efficiency.
To offer visitors an immersive experience of cutting-edge green solutions, there are four designated display zones namely “Climate Quest”, “An Interactive Green Journey”, “Green Technology Showcase” and “Green Lab” at the HKSTP Pavilion. GrinBean Hong Kong Limited, for example, will let visitors test out the sorting capabilities of GrinBean Lite, a smart recycling bin which can distinguish between different recyclable materials, and Locolla Limited’s LocoBike showcase will take attendees on a VR journey with their eco-friendly urban mobility solutions.
InnoCarnival visitors will also enjoy our convenient Electric Vehicles (EV) Charging Stations to power up their vehicles. EVs hold great potential in helping combat climate change by revolutionising the transport sector. By the end of this year, over 30% parking spaces in Science Park will be equipped with EV charging facilities, equivalent to 750+ spots. HKSTP is determined to promote green transportation and help pave the way for more carbon neutral transport solutions that will ultimately lead to a sustainable future.
To showcase park company solutions to the green industries on a global platform, HKSTP has joined Eco Expo Asia 2023 with other prominent experts and academics at the AsiaWorld-Expo Hong Kong from 26 to 29 October. Featured Park company solutions include GRST’s water-based production method and recycling process for lithium-ion batteries which earned it a finalist place in this year’s Earthshot Prize for environmentalism, founded by Britain’s William, Prince of Wales; Achelous Pure Metal’s unique decarbonization technology ‘CIONEX’ which captures atmospheric CO2, unleashing the power of clean air.
With more than 100 active green tech ventures, HKSTP aims to lead the creation of a vibrant green tech ecosystem to advocate and drive sustainable climate I&T development, further catalysing Hong Kong as an international green tech hub for climate change solutions and empowering the city for a net-carbon future. By nurturing up and coming I&T talent, HKSTP provides a platform for Park companies to scale up their businesses from Hong Kong to the GBA, Asia and beyond, creating a greener future for us all.
