Renting Spaces in Hong Kong Science Park

An applicant shall meet the following conditions to be admitted as a tenant.
1. Core Tenants
A. General
  • An application shall engage in technology intensive business and place knowledge-based innovation functions that encompass decision making, research, product and market development, advanced manufacturing, customer support and associated services as a significant part of its operations in Science Park.
  • An applicant's operations in Science Park should not be primarily in mass production, although small-scale pilot production or high value-added production in support of product and market development and innovation may be permitted.
  • An applicant's operations in Science Park should be environmentally friendly.
B. An applicant's operations in Science Park must contribute to the long-term economic success of Hong Kong through the development, enhancement and / or application of innovation and technology. Examples of eligible applicants are:
  • Companies engaging in the following activities:
    • Research and development of products, services and processes including market research, product management and related activities
    • Product or process engineering, qualification and related product and production support activities.
    • Headquarters operations encompassing one or more of the above functions.
  • Inward investing companies who wish to start up and expand in Hong Kong and plan to engage in activities listed in within a preset period agreed in advance with Science Park Administration.
  • Start-up companies planning to engage in the above listed activities. Examples are companies growing out of university research activities or incubation programmes or companies founded by entrepreneurs within the HKSAR.
C. Priority will be given to companies who :
  • are world leaders (actual or potential) in innovation technology, brand recognition, market coverage and/or operation excellence
  • are contributing members of fostering clusters
  • have a long-term commitment to building technology competence in Hong Kong through investment in people and intellectual property
2. Regional-headquarters (RHQ) and regional offices (RO)
  • Require a technical person (i.e. CTO, R&D Manager, Engineering Manager) in charge of R&D on the regional basis.
  • Resume/C.V. and title/position of this technical person is required to submit for evaluation, as well as organisation chart of Parent Company showing the role of RHQ/RO.
3. Professional Service Providers
  • Professional companies providing value-added services e.g. IP service providers, Corporate service providers (mainly accounting and legal service providers), and HR (including IT) outsourcing service providers are also admissible to Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation.

Renting Spaces in Hong Kong Science Park Shenzhen Branch

An applicant shall meet the following conditions to be admitted as a tenant.
1. Site Information

 

Block A (In operation)

Block A is a six-storey building with around 21,000 square meters of space. It includes wet and dry laboratories, offices, co-working spaces, and meeting venues. The building houses the Hong Kong Science Park Shenzhen Branch Office, as well as small and medium-sized enterprises, scientific research institutions, and businesses requiring laboratory facilities.

Block B (Expected to be commenced in mid-2024)

Block B, another six-storey building with around 10,000 square meters possesses the potential to be a burgeoning incubator supporting business growth and offering resources for future I&T leaders in the Greater Bay Area.

 

2. Mandatory Admission Criteria

 

An applicant shall meet the following conditions to be admitted as a tenant.

Company Incorporation: The applicant must be a company incorporated in Hong Kong. If the applicant is a non-Hong Kong incorporated company, the applicant must set up a Hong Kong incorporated company within 3 years after being admitted into the Shenzhen Branch.

Technology Focus: The applicant must be engaged or involved in prevailing and emerging technology areas, and the technology that is complimentary to HKSTP focused ecosystem and thematic development will be referenced.

Nature of Business: The applicant should fall under at least one of the following business natures:

  1. Business and market development;
  2. R&D (priority: translational research);
  3. Commercialization;
  4. Technology investment;
  5. Technology and business service provision; and
  6. Any other nature relating to the development of I&T in GBA. 

 

3. Type of Ecosystem Stakeholders (Tenants)

 

The applicant must belong to either one of the below categories:

Technology companies: Technology establishment including start-ups and scale-ups, multi-national companies;

R&D centres and research-based companies: Research institutes, university spinoffs, research-based companies;

Ecosystem supporting partners: Professional associations and professional service providers, tech investors, and talent development organizations.

 

Renting Spaces in InnoCentre

An applicant shall meet the following conditions to be admitted as a tenant.
1. Core Tenants

 

  1. General

    1. An application shall engage in Innovation and technology intensive business with focus on Financial and Green Technology listed in paragraph 1(b)(i)

    2. An applicant should engage at least 50% of space and manpower in above mentioned business; the remaining percentage can be used for headquarters functions, such as financial control, marketing and administration.

    3. An applicant’s primary operation in InnoCentre should not be (1) in the retail business or (2) solely engaged in marketing or (3) used as business office and/or (4) engaged in mass production, although small-scale pilot production or high value-added production in support of product and market development and innovation may be permitted and subjected for Corporations approval.

    4. An applicant’s operation in InnoCentre should undertake an ethical, professional and environmentally friendly business, capable of operating in a studio/office environment and should be engaged in activities which do not involve hazardous or obscene materials.


  2. An applicant’s operation in InnoCentre must contribute to the long-term economic success of Hong Kong through the development, enhancement and/or application of innovation.

    1. Companies engaged in the following Financial and Green Technology related activities are acceptable (this list is by no means exhaustive):

      • a technology-enabled innovation in financial and green solutions that could result in new business models, applications, processes or products with an associated material effect on the provision of respective industries;
      • electronic commerce - the sale and purchase of goods or services, conducted through Internet+ method

    2. Inward investing companies who wish to start a business or expand operation in Hong Kong and plan to engage in activities listed in 1(b)(i) are welcome.

    3. Priority will be given to companies who:

      • are world leaders (including rising stars) in innovation technology, brand recognition, market coverage and operation excellence
      • are contributing members of fostering clusters
      • have a long-term commitment to building technology competence in Hong Kong through investment in people and intellectual property
      • provide a significant number of high value-adding innovation and technology jobs locally; and/or
      • are engaging in Financial and Green Technology business

 

Renting Spaces in InnoPark

An applicant shall meet the following conditions to be admitted as a tenant.
