Company
Current director of our company is Dr Zhang Ruihan. Dr Zhang received his PhD from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2019, and then worked as a research scientist at Worcester Polytechnic Institute while as a postdoctoral researcher at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University from 2019 to 2023. Dr Zhang has focused on energy technology for more than 10 years, and has published more than 40 research papers on the journals of Nature Communications, Nano Energy, Journal of Energy Chemistry, and Journal of Power Sources. He chaired different projects of the Technology Entrepreneurship Support Scheme for Joint Universities (TSSSU) of the Hong Kong Innovation and Technology Commission (ITC), as well as a national-level innovation and entrepreneurship training program. In addition, he also participated in five energy projects of the US Department of Energy and the Hong Kong Research Grants Council.
Description
Siphone Science and Technology Ltd. (SSTL) is a dynamic technology enterprise established in 2022 and headquartered at the Hong Kong Science Park. Specialising in new energy technologies and environmental innovation, the company has developed an integrated four-pillar ecosystem encompassing “R&D-Manufacturing-Operations-Recycling”. Through its innovative technological framework of “material innovation→intelligent operations→circular regeneration”, SSTL enhances the full lifecycle value of new energy products while reducing operational costs for emerging application scenarios, ultimately establishing a sustainable "production-consumption-regeneration" model in the energy sector.
The company has achieved technological breakthroughs including:
High-energy-density pouch cells (320-500Wh/kg);
AI-based advanced battery management systems (BMS);
Intelligent automated battery recycling and regeneration technologies.
These innovations have obtained industry certifications and international patent protections, finding applications in cutting-edge fields such as embodied AI robotics, industrial-grade UAVs, smart warehouse drones, and electric vertical takeoff/landing (eVTOL) vehicles. SSTL maintains extensive collaborations with robotics developers, eVTOL manufacturers, drone producers, end-users, battery manufacturers, and recycling specialists.
Expanding its technological frontier, the company is pioneering next-generation battery systems including lithium-metal batteries, hydrogen fuel cells, and flow battery stacks. Concurrently, it is implementing intelligent energy management solutions for smart zero-carbon buildings and ultra-fast charging infrastructure.
SSTL team consists of 17 members (12 R&D specialists) from University of Hong Kong, HKUST, CUHK, City University of Hong Kong, Guangzhou Institute of Industrial Intelligence, and Imperial College London.
