Company

OKOsix makes new sustainable multifunctional materials from integrating biodegradable materials, bioplastics and recycled plastics with a vision of creating a greener future for our next generations.

OKOsix’s materials were used to make the following World's first applications:
1) the first plant-based face mask which is fully compostable, nano-tech, medical-grade, bacteriostatic and cost effective.
2) the first medical gown.
3) the first beauty facial mask.
The materials are certified by SGS and Intertek to show full biodegradation in both aerobic and anaerobic (landfill) conditions within six months, without leaving any harmful microplastics behind.

The company's objective is to replace fossil-based plastics and achieve circular economy in the following applications:

Fully and truly biodegradable materials for making compostable disposable products in medical, personal care and hygiene industries including bags, medical masks/ gowns/ drapes, cosmetic facial masks and other non-woven products;
Carbon-saving bioplastics (OKO-PE, OKO-PP, OKO-ABS…) for durable products in medical device, packaging, automotive, construction, consumer goods, electronics and electrical appliances etc.

OKOSIX also offers service to upgrade recycled plastic materials, unlocking more profitability for existing recycling businesses.

Description

OKOsix makes low-carbon & microplastic free materials for a world without plastic waste.
We invented a cost-effective, fully and truly biodegradable, carbon-saving material to replace fossil-based plastics, in various disposable applications including medical masks, medical gowns, beauty masks, plastic bags, diapers and more.

Biodegradable materials are not stable under high shear force and thermal stress during the traditional high-melt-flow-rate meltblown process in the production of filtration materials, hence deteriorating easily. ÖKOSIX’s pioneeering technology uses 100% plant-based and natural materials to manufacture innovative nanofiber degradable filtration materials (NADEX) with readily available equipment (electrospinning machine), which makes mass production easy and affordable.

Our proprietary and patentable technology, which can be applied to producing fully biodegradable surgical face masks, air filters and diapers, could effectively reduce plastic pollution. NADEX can be adjusted to achieve high medical requirements with strict morphology control in fiber diameter and distribution. Our technology was recognised through the Gold Award at the International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva 2022, which values innovation, ability to solve a global issue and successful commercialisation.
