World AI Conference & High-Level Meeting on Global AI Governance (WAIC) 2024
The 2024 World AI Conference & High-Level Meeting on Global AI Governance (WAIC) has been approved by the State Council and is jointly organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Cyberspace Administration of China, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the China Association for Science and Technology, and the Shanghai Municipal People's Government. Since its inception in 2018, the conference has successfully hosted six sessions. It has consistently adhered to the principles of being high-end, international, professional, market-oriented, and intelligent. Over the years, it has grown into the most influential event in the global artificial intelligence field. The conference serves as a premier international platform for high-level cooperation and exchange, jointly created by relevant national departments and the city of Shanghai.
The 2024 World AI Conference & High-Level Meeting on Global AI Governance will continue with the theme "Governing Al for Good and for All" and will feature four main sections: "Conference and Forum, Display and Exhibition, Contest and Awards, and Intelligent Experience". It will bring together top scientists, entrepreneurs, government officials, experts, scholars, international organizations, investors, and startup teams from around the world to build a world-class platform for cooperation and exchange. The conference will showcase China’s wisdom and Shanghai’s solutions to the world, continuously providing new opportunities for global development through China's new advancements.
In WAIC 2023, a total of 133 forums were held with 1,400+ guest speakers. The exhibition spanned 50,000 square meters and saw participation from 403 enterprises, leading to 32 significant industrial project agreements. The conference drew an impressive 177k offline visitors and 1.07 billion online viewers, with coverage from 2,600+ media outlets.
