Associate Medical Technologist
Job Responsibilities
- Process and analyse clinical specimens via molecular testing methods following standard operating procedures (SOP)
- Perform patient sample handling and processing, including whole blood, buccal swab, saliva, tumour and normal tissues
- Perform DNA / RNA extraction from various clinical tissue samples
- Perform quality control (QC) and library preparation, and operate next / third generation sequencing systems and other laboratory equipment and analysers
- Assist in developing new protocol and evaluating new sequencing technologies and analysers
- Perform daily and routine laboratory operations, equipment maintenance and calibration
- Perform cell culture work
- Participate in research and development
- Assist in implementation of quality control, documentation, internal audit and external quality assurance programmes to meet the accreditation standard
- erform any other duties assigned by senior officers
Job Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in Biological Science or relevant in Medical Laboratory Science, Biochemistry, Biology or related disciplines.
- A Certificate of Registration (MLT Part II) and a valid Practising Certificate issued by the Medical Laboratory Technologists Board, Hong Kong
- At least 2 years of relevant experience working in genetic research laboratory or medical laboratory with provision of genetic testing.
- Preferably with 2-3 years of working experience in short and / or long-read sequencing technology, including QC and data analysis
- Experience in quality management system, such as quality assurance, development of SOP and operation manual
