Science Park Startup Fill Easy partners Prudential to launch market-first customer identity verification solution to promote Hong Kong’s financial technology

(Hong Kong, 3 April 2025)— The Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) extends its warm congratulations to Science Park Startup Fill Easy on the groundbreaking progress of its e-KYC (Electronic Know Your Customer) technology. The company has introduced the market's first smart customer identity verification solution using near-field communication (NFC) technology and has successfully been adopted by the international insurance company Prudential Hong Kong Limited ("Prudential") for its electronic insurance application system, marking a significant milestone in the practical application of Hong Kong's financial technology innovation.
Fill Easy's e-KYC solution allows customers to achieve contactless identity verification through Prudential's "PRUSubmit" electronic platform. Users simply need to tap their NFC-enabled identification document to a secured device, allowing the system to instantly verify their identity through an encrypted Application Programming Interface (API) connected to authorized statutory body. This technology reduces the time of traditional insurance application processes, enhances customer onboarding experience, improves efficiency, and reduces the risk of fraud.
Eric Or, Acting Chief Corporate Development Officer of HKSTP, said: “We are delighted to see Fill Easy make significant progress in the market and successfully apply its new technology to an international insurance company like Prudential, further showcasing Hong Kong's potential as a leading financial technology hub. Fill Easy's success story once again demonstrates that the advanced facilities and support services provided by HKSTP can effectively nurture startups and drive innovation breakthroughs. With an extensive network of over 500 public and private partners and more than 1,000 investors, we will continue to connect startups, industry players, and investors to accelerate the commercialization of research outcomes, drive financial technology innovation, and bring positive impacts to the market."
Candy Au Yeung, Chief Customer Operations and Health Officer, Prudential Hong Kong Limited, said: “As a forward-thinking insurance company, Prudential strives to deploy technology to transform work models and service offerings. This e-KYC solution fuses a superb front-end user experience with an automated back-end process to provide customers with an efficient onboarding process that is effortless and fast. We will continue to push boundaries and seek innovative solutions that prioritize customer satisfaction, reflecting our dedication to setting new benchmarks in the insurance industry while aligning with Hong Kong SAR Government’s vision of making Hong Kong a global fintech hub.”
Matthew Lee, Founder & CEO of Fill Easy, said “We are thrilled to collaborate with Prudential in launching this state-of-the-art e-KYC solution, made possible by the GBA Standard Contract, which allows us to leverage verified data to streamline customer onboarding experience. Our collaboration demonstrates how innovative technology can reduce onboarding times and elevate service quality, without compromising regulatory compliance, meeting both customer needs and strict KYC standards. We look forward to furthering this partnership with Prudential, helping them drive market leadership with best-in-class customer experiences that establish the new benchmark for the insurance industry.”
