Seven Hong Kong Startups Embark on Rocketing AI Co-incubation Program Launched by Google Hong Kong and Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation
(Hong Kong, September 16, 2024) Google Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) have kicked off the Rocketing AI Co-incubation Program. Seven startups, leveraging AI to address diverse challenges across industries like healthcare, finance and creative media, have been selected for the program aimed at fostering innovation and growing Hong Kong's thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem. These high-potential AI startups will receive comprehensive support to grow and deliver innovative solutions.
Mr Michael Yue, Managing Director and General Manager of Google Hong Kong, said: “Google has been dedicated to supporting SMEs and offering cutting-edge solutions for entrepreneurs in the city. With AI poised to unlock HKD 287.4 billion in benefits for Hong Kong businesses by 2030 and 52% of Hong Kong startups planning to invest in AI and Machine Learning, we’re excited to kick off the Rocketing AI Co-incubation Program with HKSTP, foster AI innovation and make technology more helpful for everyone."
Mr Derek Chim, Head of Incubation and Acceleration Programmes of HKSTP, said: “The Rocketing AI Co-incubation Program is a catalyst for AI innovation in the city. By combining HKSTP's proven track record in propelling success of startups and Google’s AI technology, the program not only provides essential support to AI startups, but also equips them with the tools and expertise required to thrive in a competitive global market. The program is a beacon for innovators in Hong Kong and beyond, solidifying the city's position as a premier innovation and technology hub."
The seven startups will receive comprehensive support, such as up to USD $350,000 in Google Cloud Credits, up to HKD $1.29 million in funding and R&D support, infrastructure and investor matching from HKSTP, dedicated mentorship from Google and HKSTP startup success teams, as well as exclusive access to networking events, all designed to facilitate the startups' growth and help them achieve their ambitious goals. The program will conclude with a Graduation Ceremony cum Demo Day in 2025, where they will showcase their solutions to key industry players.
The Rocketing AI Co-incubation Program is a cornerstone of the broader collaboration between Google Hong Kong and HKSTP, aimed at nurturing the growth of startups within Hong Kong's tech ecosystem.
