HKSTP Unveils IYKYK with Pavilion Set Up at InnoCarnival Showcasing Over 20 "Made in Hong Kong" I&T Companies and 10 Life-size Unicorns Artworks for an Interactive Tech Experience
(Hong Kong – 26 October 2024) – The Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) participates in the "InnoCarnival 2024", organised by the Innovation and Technology Commission. Today marks the grand opening of the "IF YOU KNOW, YOU KNOW" (IYKYK) exhibition area. From today until 3 November 2024, over a span of nine days, the event at the Hong Kong Science Park will showcase the top achievements of more than 20 "Made in Hong Kong" technology companies, including unicorn enterprises. These innovations cover four major technology areas closely related to everyday life: green technology, biomedicine, artificial intelligence and big data, and robotics.
On the first day of the event, visitors had the opportunity to engage closely with vibrant innovators in the field of technology. Attendees enjoyed activities like VR roller coasters and simulated drone operations, experiencing first-hand the cutting-edge capabilities of Hong Kong's tech scene.
Since its establishment in 2001, HKSTP has supported a total of 13 unicorn enterprises. To further share the proud achievements of local I&T with the city, this event uniquely incorporates new creative elements by inviting local and international artists to draw inspiration from the innovative journeys and solutions of unicorn enterprises, meticulously designing a series of unicorn-themed artworks—'uKnow-corns'. These artworks are placed around the Science Park, integrating technology with art and everyday life.
The artworks include:
- Prism of Progress - Inspired by the global leader in AI software, SenseTime, using vibrant, sharp-edged graphics symbolise how tech enhances daily life and strengthens community connections
- Futureville Dream Delivery - Inspired by the world's largest logistics platform by closed-loop freight Gross Transaction Value, Lalamove, envisioning a future of thriving smart cities where technology and digital services in our phones enable seamless on-demand delivery
Mr Albert Wong, CEO of HKSTP, said, "As the largest I&T ecosystem in Hong Kong, HKSTP has been providing comprehensive support and nurturing the growth of numerous tech enterprises and distinguished leaders for over 20 years. This IYKYK event showcases a multitude of globally leading technological solutions, highlighting Hong Kong's innovative potential and affirming the Science Park as the optimal springboard for startup success. Looking ahead, we will continue to pave the way for technological development, strengthen collaboration between industry, academia, research, and investment sectors, inspire more innovative ideas, and lead our park companies onto the international stage."
The Tech Showcase area featured automated health checks, robot ambassador, and AI virtual human. On the first day, visitors also sampled handcrafted beer made from bread, tiger nut plant-based milk tea, and non-dairy ice cream, exploring how technology drives transformation across various industries and promotes sustainable lifestyles.
InnoCarnival 2024 is the annual flagship event of the Innovation and Technology Commission, aimed at promoting science education. This year's theme is "Let’s Sail with Innovation and Technology." In collaboration with over 75 participating organisations, the carnival features exhibitions of local inventions and research achievements, workshops, and interactive games to promote I&T culture among the public. During the event, the Science Park will transform into a hub of technology, shopping, cuisine, and education, welcoming all citizens to visit and engage.
